John A. Pyrcz, 77, a resident of Lowell residing in the Pawtucketville section, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Lowell General Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Lowell on November 30, 1938, he was a son of Dorothy T. (Betty) Pyrcz and the late Alexander J. Pyrcz.
Mr. Pyrcz served with the Army National Guard and then became a police officer for the city of Lowell in 1970 and served as a patrolman and mounted police officer until his retirement in 2002. He had a love of animals especially horses and birds. He was known as the "bird man" to many.
In addition to his mother he leaves three children, Deborah Ramsden, Paul Pyrcz and his mother Patricia Buckjune, and Lisa Pyrcz and her mother Karen (Pyrcz) Atkins; several grandchildren among whom are Brittany Ginsburg, Kaylee Pyrcz and Rachelle Kelly; two brothers, James and Randolph Pyrcz; two sisters, Bernice Labrecque and her husband Leo and Sandra Woods and her husband George. He was the father of the late John and David Pyrcz and brother of the late Stephen Pyrcz, Patricia Couture, Evelyn Cooper and Jo-Ann Quigley.
