John R. Proulx, beloved husband of the late Cheryl R. (Carpenter) Proulx with whom he was married for 50 years at the time of her death in 2019, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was 72.
John was a resident of Dracut, born on February 24, 1949, son of the late Gerard and Evelyn (Vieira) Proulx.
John was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School. He completed one year of college but then chose to enlist in the US Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home he was employed for many years as an electronics engineer and later as a manager with the former Wang Laboratories. He continued his career in management prior to his retirement.
When John retired, he took up golf and enjoyed playing several times a week. He also joined the Senior Golf League at the Chelmsford Country Club. John was an avid reader and enjoyed tinkering with computers. He would always build his own computer from parts and recently helped his son build one.
Faith had become an important part of John's life and he and Cheryl were active members in the Marsh Corner Community Church in Methuen.
Surviving John are his two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Gisele Proulx of Dracut, Brian and Kimberly Proulx of Chelmsford; two grandchildren, Aleksandra Proulx and Joseph Duquette; special family, Peter and Kelly Brask and their children Rachel, Jessica and Kourtney.
John's funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15 at 10:00 AM in the Marsh Corner Community Church, 317 Pelham St. Methuen. Spring burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery,
