John T. McCarthy, Jr., 87, a resident of Lowell, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Ann Marie (McShea) McCarthy with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

He worked for Mass Electric as a lineman for forty years and was a union representative for several years. He enjoyed being the third shift 'troubleman' at the end of his career.

In his earlier years, he was a parishioner of St. Michael Church, participating in the Holy Name Society, Bingo, and the Bill Green Scholarship program. John also served as a lector at St. Francis Church. He always cherished spending time with his family, especially Sunday morning breakfasts followed by spirited games of 45s.
