John S. Manolakis, Jr., .. Life-long Lowell resident, Crane Operator and Self-Employed Contractor:52
Salisbury, MA - John S. Manolakis, Jr., 52, died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at his home in Salisbury, MA following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mary Gail (Sheeley) Manolakis with whom he shared 20 years of his life.
He was born in Lowell on July 13, 1954 a son of the late John S. Manolakis and Elizabeth (Brown) Manolakis.
He attended the Greek Hellenic and Lowell School Systems. He was employed for many years with the Alpha Wrecking Company as a Crane Operator and later employed with Polarized Metals of New England in Everett, MA where he also worked as a Crane Operator. For many years he worked as a self-employed contractor throughout the local area.
He was a member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Dracut, MA. He was also a member of the Longshoreman's Union, Local 1908, the NRA and the Lowell Sportsmen's Club in North Chelmsford.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son and his best friend, Jonathan Joseph Manolakis, 21, of North Chelmsford; a stepson, David Sheeley, 20, of Salisbury; a sister, Diane Lytle of Nashua, NH; a niece, Rebecca (Lytle) Serrano and her husband Alexis of Lowell; a nephew, Aaron Lytle of Lowell; a great nephew, Luis Aiden Serrano of Lowell; his father-in-law, George T. Sheeley of Lowell. He was the son-in-law of the late Catherine L. Sheeley.
