John A. Grochmal, 90, a resident of Dracut, died Sunday March 6, 2011 at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Doris M. (Corbin) Grochmal to whom he was married for 34 years.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ on April 9, 1920, he was a son of Anton and Koslotika (Paterek) Grochmal.
John served in the United States Army during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a carpenter by Davis and Furber Machine Co. of North Andover for 38 years.
John was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Doris, survivors include his stepchildren, Mary Capaldo and her husband Steve, of Raymond, NH, Sandra Ray and her husband Vance, of Tyngsboro, Lorraine Carlson and her husband John, of Billerica, Edward Fagan and his wife Joanne, of Dracut, Katherine Carignan and her husband Russell, of Tyngsboro; his grandchildren, Michelle LeBel, Michael Paradise, Christine Bourque, Jonathan Sawlan, Jenifer Kuilan, Therese Polanco, Rachel Ray, Zachary Ray, Tiffany Carlson, Evan Fagan, Julianna Fagan, Melanie Carignan and Emily Carignan; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Savittieri of Glendale, AZ ; a son, Robert Grochmal; a sister-in -law, Sophia Grochmal of Elizabeth, NJ; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the husband of the late Helen J. Grochmal, who passed in May of 1973, and the brother of the late Joseph, Stanley, Walter, and Marie Grochmal.
