John F. "Jack" McGrail, 72, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 20, 2026.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on December 3, 1953, Jack was the eldest of three children. Son of the late Deacon John S. McGrail and survived by Marcia B. (Kosik) McGrail of Lowell. A proud veteran, Jack served in the United States Navy before returning home to build a life centered on family, friendship, and hard work.
Jack graduated from Lowell High School and earned his Associate's Degree from UMass. He enjoyed a rewarding career as an engineer with the Town of Dracut, where he worked for over 20 years before retiring.
Above all else, Jack was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nadine McGrail of Nashua, New Hampshire, whom he affectionately called his "young beautiful bride" and often said was the best thing that ever happened to him. Together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, travel, gardening, kayaking, and countless cherished memories.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Jason McGrail and his wife Laura (Grimshaw) McGrail; his daughter, Rosheen (McGrail) Kosko and her husband Michael Kosko III; his stepson, Evan Georgiadis; his beloved grandchildren, Margaret Kosko, Ava McGrail, Isabelle McGrail, and Michael Kosko IV; his sisters, Maryellen McGrail; Marcy Venskus and her husband Joseph Venskus Sr.; two aunts and an uncle, his Godmother, Carol T. McPhee and her husband Edward of Bristol, CT and Evelyn Smith of Wedowee, AL; along with many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and many many friends.
Jack found joy in life's simple pleasures. An avid golfer, he looked forward to every Thursday spent on the course with his friends at Scottish Highlands. He was a passionate New England sports fan who faithfully cheered on the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling with family, and tending to the beautiful home and garden he took great pride in maintaining alongside Nadine.
Known for his craftsmanship and generous spirit, Jack was also an excellent cook. Family and friends eagerly awaited a jar of his famous homemade relish, made from vegetables grown in his garden. He was always ready with a laugh, a story, or a game of cribbage, and his warmth and humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Jack will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
