Dracut - John F. Craven, 80, husband of Jeannette (Lafortune) Craven, a Dracut resident, died Thursday January 5, at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was born in Lowell on November 9, 1925, a son of the late Percy and Gladys E. (Miller) Craven.
Mr. Craven was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Marine Corps. in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and Hawaii.
In earlier years he was employed in construction for various companies, and worked part time as a stone mason. He retired as a custodian for MIT working at the Haystack Observatory in Westford.
He was a member of the Pelham Fish and Game Club, and played pool at the Chelmsford Senior Center. He enjoyed baseball, boxing, football, hunting and fishing.
Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and daughters in law, David and Rhonda Craven of Bucks Harbor, Maine, Philip and Amy Craven of Stirling; a daughter, Linda Estanol of Stirling; a brother and sister in law, Joseph E. and Lorraine Craven of Concord, NH; a brother in law Edgar LaFortune of Dracut; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Sally Jhan.
