John Talbot Cole, Sr, a resident of Hampton, NH, beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Moysenko) Cole, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at his daughter's residence on Monday, December 12, 2016. He was 80.
John was born in Lowell on August 9, 1936, a son of the late Ernest and Evelyn (Nash) Cole.
He was educated in Lowell and at age 17 enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War.
John was employed at Raytheon Company for 38 years, for which the majority was at the South Lowell facility, retiring in 1994. Throughout his long tenure, he held many positions in the Printed Circuit Department with the majority of them being in the Group-Leader position.
He was a communicant of St. Francis Parish and a member of the Raytheon Alumni
Association.
John loved the beach, especially Hampton, NH and Venice, FL, where he resided during the winter months. He walked the beach daily, most often to Boar's Head in Hampton. During his walks he always made sure he had treats in his pocket for all of the four legged friends he would encounter along the way. He was a gregarious person and would strike up conversations with most people he encountered. Some of which have become close friends.
He enjoyed taking pictures, always having his camera at the ready.
John looked forward to his many trips, over the years, visits to Hawaii and cruises throughout the Caribbean were among his favorites. He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, cribbage and 45s. He also liked to spend time at the Sarasota Dog Track and Casino as well as the casinos in New Hampshire.
For John, family was most important in life. He looked forward to just being with them and cherished the holidays, reunions and special occasions.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Donna and James Martin of Dracut, John and Sharon Cole of Dracut, Lisa Renaud and Jeffery Gikas of Tyngsboro; grandchildren, James Martin and his wife Jennifer, Erica Martin, Meghan Maraghy and her wife Kerry Nicolls, Jennifer Cole, John Cole and his wife Lauren, Matthew Cole, James Renaud, Lauren Renaud, Ryan Renaud, Nicholas Renaud; a great grandson, Remy John Martin; a sister Dolores Wessinger of SC; a sister in law Patricia Cole of Lowell; his former wife Claudette (Marion) Cole of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was the brother of the late Geraldine Thurlow, Margaret Leverone, Mary Matthews, Theresa Kacavas, Arthur Cole, Ernest Cole, and Jeremiah Cole.
