John J. Coffey

Lowell, MA – John J. Coffey, Jr., age 88 of Lowell, died suddenly at Lowell General Hospital on September 8, 2014.
John was born at home in Lowell on May 16, 1926. He was the son of the late John J. Coffey, Sr., and Margaret D. (Devlin) Coffey. He was the youngest of three children.
Raised in Belvidere, he graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1943. John was a veteran. He served his country in the U.S. Army 80th Division with General Patton's "Iron Men" during World War II, and was honorably discharged August 7, 1946.
John was employed by First National, Towers Motor Parts, General Electric and Raytheon before his retirement.
John enjoyed reading, repairing electronics, watching baseball, and fishing. John was a devout communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
John is survived by and will be greatly missed by his sister Rita C. Hurley of Dracut, nieces Luanne Hurley, RN and Elaine M. Hurley of Dracut, nephews John J. Hurley of Dracut, Charles F. and his wife Deborah Sheehan Hurley, RN of Pelham, NH, and Thomas V. Hurley of East Weymouth, MA. He is also survived by four grandnieces and a grandnephew of NH.
He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Geraldine E. Coffey in 2009.
