John E. Jack Caldwell, Sr. a longtime Lowell resident, beloved husband of Claire A. (Coutu) Caldwell of Lowell, died Saturday September 5, 2009. He was 87.
Born in Dubuque, Iowa on November 11, 1921, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Caldwell.
Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He had a great passion for fishing, loved camping and the Red Sox.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, John E. Caldwell, Jr. of Lowell; Bruce and Terri Caldwell of Brockton, Scott Caldwell and Jonathan Williams of Provincetown, Joseph Caldwell and Marian Rafferty of Arlington; a daughter, Sandra and Douglas Downing of Nashua, NH; six grandchildren, John III, Krystena, Tyler, Liam, Aisling, Carrie Ann; a great grandchild, Cameron. He was the father-in-law of the late Teri Caldwell.
