Joan Irene Tousignant, 93, died at Buckley Health Care Center on Nov.24, 2013 after a period of declining health.
She was born in Lowell on August 15, 1920, daughter of the late Angelo and Regina
(Desharnais) Tousignant. She attended St. Louis School and graduated from St. Louis Academy and Lowell Commercial College.
Joan worked at Fort Devens in Ayer as well as Tewksbury State Hospital.
She retired in 1972 in order to care for her mother with whom she lived.
Joan later moved to the former Jaycee Place where she enjoyed many years of travels and companionship with other seniors and especially her dear friend, Doris Major.
She lived in Lowell until 2008 when she moved to western Massachusetts to be closer to her nieces and nephews.
Joan enjoyed her new life at Greenfield Acres and her close proximity to family. She loved to play scrabble and had a keen interest in politics and world events.
Survivors include seven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Lauretta (Samuel) Ordway, Germaine (Roland) Vincent, Robert (Jeanne) Tousignant, and Leo (Gertrude) Tousignant.
