DRACUT - Jim Long, 75, a resident of Dracut, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 10, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia M. (Peters) Long, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on November 24, 1946, he was a son of the late Edward and Laura (Coutu) Long.
Jim was a graduate of Lowell High School and following enlisted with the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam War From 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1969 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.
Jim attended Lowell Technological College and received an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was the owner/operator of Eastern Industries of Salem, NH.
An active communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut, Jim served on several boards and committees. His hobbies included salt and fresh water fishing, ten pin bowling and riding his motorcycle.
In addition to his wife Cindy he leaves three daughters, Jennifer D. Long of Dracut, Allison C. Long of Westfield and Stephanie P. Parrott and her husband Jon of Bristol, NH; two siblings, Michael Long and his lifelong partner Kenny Aloisi of Lynnfield and Patricia Farrell of Seabrook, NH; a sister-in-law, Pamela Long of Hampton, NH; five grandchildren, Napoleon J. Battle, Jr. of Lowell, Gianna Brewster of Westfield, Sadie Parrott, Jon Parrott, Jr. and Jimmy Parrott, all of Bristol, NH; a great-grandson, Napoleon J. Battle, III; also several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late James O. Long, Jr. and brother of the late Edward Long.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jim's Life Celebration on Friday from 5 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 AM in St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut. Face coverings are required in the Funeral Home and Church.
