Jane A. (Young) Shemchuk, 90, a lifelong Lowell resident, died peacefully on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at Willow Manor in Lowell. She was the wife of the late Felix Shemchuk.
Born in Lowell on April 17, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Gendron) Young.
For many years, Jane worked at the former Hub Hosiery of Lowell. She enjoyed cooking for her family and, above all things, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut.
Survivors include six children and their spouses, Dennis Shemchuk of Lowell, Kenneth Shemchuk and his wife, Pearl of Dracut, Susan Marcotte and her husband, Daniel of Lowell, Michael Shemchuk and his wife, Cathy of Albany, CA, Christopher Shemchuk and his wife, Anne of Lowell, Kimberly Vancelette and her husband, Donald of Lunenburg; two brothers, Herbert Young and his wife, Blanche of Nashua, NH and Robert Young of Lowell; a sister, Lorraine Andruszkiewicz and her husband, Andy of Buffalo, NY; fifteen grandchildren, Robin, Darryll, Steve, Karen, Lisa, Randy, Amy, Danielle, Chet, Cassie, Cory, Bethany, Benjamin, Jessie and Lucas; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Cynthia Dow and sister of the late Leo Young, Ruth Guilmette, Mae Andruszkiewicz, Dorothy Rachelawicz, Peter Young and Pearl Tourville.
