Dracut

Dracut – Jane I. Leczynski, age 98, the beloved wife of the late Edward E. Leczynski, Sr., passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 with her family by her side.  

She was born in Lowell MA on December 7, 1925 to the late Stanislaw and Helen (Mroz) Szczepanik.

Jane graduated from Lowell High School and Lowell Commercial College. She was employed by Rupert Rhodes. Most of her working life, she was employed at Byam Brothers Insurance Agency of Lowell from which she retired.

Jane grew up studying the accordion and had her own polka band, The Polkarettes for over 40 years. This is also how she met her true love, Eddie, who gave her the eye as he danced by and she replied with a “yoo, hoo, hoo.” Jane was very proud of her daughter Jania, son Edziu and grandson Matthew enjoying traveling and watching them perform with their band, the Swinging Brass. Jane held membership in St. Casimir's Parish in Lowell, was a lifetime member of the Dom Polski Club and Polish-American Veterans of Lowell where she was very active with the Ladies Auxiliary, waitressing and making pierogi with her friends.

One of Jane’s favorite pastimes was gambling. She loved her bingo and especially her scratch tickets. She also enjoyed bowling with the Polish-American Veterans Bowling league and watching soap operas, "stories" as she called them. She loved her chocolate candies, cake and ice cream.

Surviving her are a daughter, Jane I. Rosinski of Dracut; a son Edward E. Leczynski, Jr. and Sandra Walor of Lowell; three grandchildren, Laura and her husband Aric Tillson of Dracut, Kasia and her husband Matt Hatfield of Swampscott, and Matthew Rosinski of Dracut; great grandchildren, Emily and Joseph Tillson of Dracut, and Jameson and Finnegan Hatfield of Swampscott; a sister-in-law, Marcella Szczepanik of Dracut; brother and sister in law, Eugene and Alvina Leczynski of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Gary E. Rosinski and she was the sister of the late Stephen Szczepanik and Henry Szczepanik of Dracut and the late Irene Bozek of Lowell.

Relatives and friends are invited to Jane's Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street on Sunday from 1until 3 PM. A service to remember Jane will follow at 3:00 PM. Her burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane’s memory to Tufts Care at Home, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg 9, Suite 425, Lawrence, Mass 01843.
