Jane C. (Descoteaux) Chaput, the beloved wife of the late Walter F. "Chappy" Chaput, a Dracut resident, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, June 11, 2016. She was 86.
Jane was born in Lowell on February 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Francis "Pete" and Maude (Hepworth) Descoteaux. She graduated from Lowell Technical School and went on to be a hairdresser. She and Chappy resided in Lowell and then moved to Dracut as their family grew. It was at this time that Jane decided to stay at home to raise her growing family.
Jane had a deep faith. She was actively involved at the former St. Louis de France Parish and in recent years at St. Francis Parish in Dracut. Jane was the proud sponsor for all of her grandchildren's confirmations.
She enjoyed knitting, all kinds of music and dancing. Jane always had a smile on her face. She could be seen nearly every day on her 8 mile walk throughout town. Jane looked forward to her visits to Montreal and Maine.
She and her husband had dinner at the former Speare House Restaurant every Saturday night. They had a special table set aside and were joined by friends often.
Family was paramount for Jane, especially her grandchildren, with whom she had a special bond.

Chaput of Nashua; four grandchildren, James Chaput and his wife Breann, Rebecca Patterson and her husband Shawn, Angela Freitas, Jason Chaput; four great grandchildren, Patrick, Hailey, Kenzie, and Natalia.
