Jan A. Szymanski

June 4, 1916 — June 17, 2006

DRACUT - Jan A. Szymanski, 90, a resident of Dracut, died Saturday evening, June 17, 2006 at Saints Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of Sophia B. (Bonczar) Szymanski.
Born in Lowell on June 4, 1916, he was a son of the late Paul and Anna (Kocur) Szymanski.
Mr. Szymanski was a graduate of the Lowell Trade School. He started his business, Reliable Refrigeration, Inc. of Lowell in 1937, which he ran until his retirement. He was a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineer Society.
He enlisted with the Army Air Force in 1941 and served in the European Theater of Operations being Honorably Discharged as a Master Sergeant in November of 1945.
His memberships included the Polish American Veterans Club of Lowell, the V.F.W., Walker Rogers Post 662 of Lowell, the Dracut Senior Citizens Club and the Dracut Knights of Columbus, Council 4225.
Mr. Szymanski was an avid Red Sox fan, he enjoyed spending time working in his yard and especially enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Lowell.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maryann F. and Paul J. Delisle of Dracut; a son and daughter-in-law, Jan A. and Kathy (Diamantopoulos) Szymanski Jr. of Dracut; five grandchildren, Ian and Ross Delisle, John, Evan and Lauren Szymanski, all of Dracut; also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stanley, Alexander, Thaddeus and Mary Szymanski and Carrie Berstene.
