– James A. Tavares, Jr., 54, a resident of Dracut, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Tufts Medical Center, Boston, with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Kathleen M. (Casey) Tavares, with whom he was married for 31 years.
Born in Lowell on November 5, 1958, he was the beloved son of James A. Tavares, Sr. and Janice (Brooks) Tavares, of Lowell who survive him.
Jim was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1976, and Middlesex Community College.
He was an avid Patriots fan and was a long time season ticket holder.
Jim was the owner and C.E.O. of Monitor Technology, Inc. of Lowell.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was the devoted father of James Michael Tavares, Kaleigh Anne Tardiff and her husband David and Michael Thomas Tavares, all of Dracut; caring brother of Lyn Halko and her husband Stephen of Dracut and Patricia Heggarty and her husband Andrew of Salem, NH; devoted son-in-law of Bernard F. Casey, Sr. of Lowell and the late Patricia V. (Vengren) Casey. He was like a brother to his wife's siblings, Richard and Doris Casey of Pepperell, Bernard and Kathryn Casey of Nashua, NH, Patricia and Robert Chumack of Salem, MA, Shawn and Kathleen Casey of Nashua, NH, Colleen and Walter Benoit of Merrimack, NH, Anne and Andrew Alvino of Haverhill, Mary and John Marzec of Methuen and Eileen and Bruce Rondeau of Dracut; also many nieces and nephews.
