James D. Stirling

James D. Stirling, Sr. , a Lowell resident, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday September 2, 2009. He was the widow of the late Mary A. (O'Connell) Stirling.
Born in Everett on June 18, 1931 he was a son of the late Ronald W. and Clara M. (Webber) Stirling.
James served in the United States Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Corporal.
He had been employed for more than 30 years as a technician by Raytheon of Bedford.
For many years he was an active bowler and was a member of several bowling leagues. He loved camping and traveling every year with his family. He frequently visited Foxwoods Casino with his wife. He had a dynamic love of music and his family remembers a fond connection to the 1812 Overture that he would often play. He was also a longtime Red Sox fan.
Survivors include two sons, James D. Stirling, Jr. of Methuen, Thomas W. Stirling of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters and sons in law, Debra A. and William A. Ward of Jacksonville, FL, Alice Jan and John DiBerto of Hudson, NH, Theresa and Normand Marquis of Tyngsboro; nine grandchildren, Michelle DiBerto, John DiBerto, Kayla DiBerto, Leanne Marquis, Andrew Marquis, Stephen Ward, William Ward, Matthew Ward, Sean Ward; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late George O. Stirling who died in 1982 and was a brother to the late Frank Lane, Katherine Bevis, Dorothy (Sweeney)(Harris) Smith and Alberta (Ryan) Meadows.
