Lowell - James J. Mullin, 89, a longtime resident of Lowell died Friday, December 28, 2018 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell.
He was born in Lowell on October 21, 1929, and was a son of the late James J. and Gertrude (Mason) Mullin. He attended the Varnum Elementary School in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School. He was a longtime Boy Scout and earned the rank of Eagle School.
James then went on to serve in the Massachusetts National Guard for four years.
Following his discharge, he joined The Order of Franciscan Brothers and spent four years with them working with wayward children.
Prior to his retirement, James worked for many years as a master plumber and was a member of the Plumber's Union Local 12.
He is survived by two brothers, John Mullin of Tyngsboro and Lewis "Andrew" Mullin of Lowell; a sister, Gertrude "Trudy" Parece and her husband Warren Parece of Stoneham; two sisters-in-law, Jill Mullin of Lowell and Lorraine Mullin of Pelham, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Peter Mullin, George Mullin, and Lillian (Mullin) Wood and the brother-in-law of the late John "Teddie" Wood and Edna (Fournier) Mullin.
ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends are invited to attend James' Life Celebration on Wednesday from 9:00 until 10:00 AM at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Rita Parish in Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
