LOWELL - James E. Dunlavey, Jr., 65, a longtime resident of Lowell died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Lowell General Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Laura A. (Cloutier) Dunlavey, to whom he was married for 44 years.
He was born in Lowell on March 3, 1951, and was a son of Mildred (Cohen) Dunlavey of Virginia Beach, VA and the late James E. Dunlavey, Sr. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
James served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 16 years as a school bus driver for Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsboro.
James loved to work on computers and was proud to be considered a "computer geek". He also enjoyed driving and watching race cars, riding his motorcycle, and working on cars. His greatest joy came from spending time in the company of his loving family.
In addition to his wife and mother, James is survived by two daughters, Bridget Langa and her husband Viv of Dracut and Colleen Brown of Portsmouth, VA; six grandchildren, Jasmine Abreu, Isaiah Langa, Alexis Jefferson, Iyanah Langa, Italy Brown, III, and Alysa Brown; a brother, Kevin Dunlavey and his wife Gail of Lowell; two sisters, Maureen Miles and her husband Ken of Virginia Beach, VA and Patty Herman and her husband Paul of Hudson, NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Michael Dunlavey.
