Jacqueline E. (Ricard) Frick, beloved wife of the late Jacob Frick, died on Thursday March 5, 2015 at the UMASS Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was 85. Born in Reading on July 23, 1929, Jacqueline was a daughter of the late Roderick and Edith (Moore) Ricard.
Her family moved to Lowell where Jacqueline graduated from the former Keith Hall. While in school Jacqueline played the trumpet and enjoyed music.
At age 17 while singing at a Lowell nightclub she met an Army Sergeant named Jacob Frick while he was stationed at Ft. Devens. He mentioned to his friends he would marry her. It took Sgt. Frick five years to convince Jacqueline to marry him.
She also worked for over 25 years as a school bus driver.
Jacqueline took pleasure camping, swimming, and while on her pontoon boat, she loved listening to loons. As sports fan, she watched baseball, football and hockey. Except during the playoffs, those games were too intense for her and she would find out the scores later and maybe watch the game rerun.
As a devout Christian, Jacqueline prayed the rosary daily and in earlier years was a catechism teacher.
Her family describes her as always smiling, optimistic, compassionate, strong and was always concerned about the wellbeing of others.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Michael and Julie Frick, Denise Frick, Steven and Denise Frick, David and Laura Frick; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Daniel, and Jonathan Karlberg, Jacob, Lucas, Jordan, Adam, and Ethan Frick; siblings and their spouses, Roderick III, and Fran Ricard, Dennis and Brenda Ricard and Michelle and Richard Bertrand; a dear friend Ida Dellofano, and several nieces and nephews.
