DRACUT - Henry Jean Chandonnet, 81, a longtime resident of Dracut died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Surprenant) Chandonnet, with whom he celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary in September.
He was born in Lowell on August 20, 1935, and was a son of the late Joseph and Ida (Decelle) Chandonnet.
Prior to his retirement, Henry was employed for many years as a wave solderer by MCF Components in Lowell. Earlier in his career, he was employed for 25 years by Tewksbury Wood Products and by Pelham Woodcrafts.
In his free time, Henry loved to garden, especially flowers, bird watching, and sitting in his backyard swing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Chandonnet) Johnson of Lowell; a son, Roger Chandonnet and his wife Susan of Amesbury; seven grandchildren, Anne-Marie LaPointe of Dracut, Christopher Johnson of Woburn, Stacy (Johnson) Davenport and her husband James of Tyngsboro, Jason Chandonnet of Rowley, Justin Chandonnet and his wife Nicole of Amesbury, Kelsey Chandonnet of Georgetown, and Matthew Chandonnet of North Carolina; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Phil Chandonnet and his wife Julie of Lowell; a sister, Jeanne Langley of Cape Cod; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Russell Chandonnet, the father-in-law of the late Richard Johnson; and the brother of the late Albert Chandonnet, Francis Chandonnet, and Therese Greenwood.
