Lowell - Henriette (Berard) Corbin passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026 at Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Known as "Red" by all who loved her, she remained fun and mischievous up until her remaining days, and was always a favorite of the NRHC staff. She genuinely loved her time with her children, her many visitors, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Lowell on November 14,1931, she was the seventh of ten children. Her parents were the late William E. and Therese (Lauziere) Berard. Her father was an owner in the family business, Excel Liquors, which still exists in downtown Lowell. The eight "Berard Girls" lived on White Street near Saint Jean D'Arc and were well-known and liked in the Pawtucketville section of town. The family also enjoyed summers on Lakeview in Dracut, and later created memories with their own families, enjoying picnic food fests and the joyful melee of a big French Canadian family.
Red married Joseph Corbin of Lowell in June,1953, and settled in Dracut on Bridge Street to raise a family of seven lively kids. Daughters, Francine, partner Jeffrey Placker, of Pelham NH, Rollande Corbin, of Newfane, Vermont, Marie,(Corbin-Keane) son-in law Steve, of Bethel, Maine, Carolyn (Notini) son-in-law Steve, of Pelham, NH, Lisa Corbin, of Pelham, and two sons, John, daughter-in-law Louise, and Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Lorna, of Westford, MA. She also left behind 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was loved by all who knew her, including our Bridge Street neighbors, the Riordans, Richardsons, and Wholeys.
Red was very proud of her family - they were her pride and joy. Her fun, loving spirit created a happy, busy household. She was an excellent swimmer, knitter, gardener, piano player, and cook, and generously shared many of her recipes and talents with others. Everyone considered themselves fortunate to receive a jar of her raspberry jam or a pair of her knitted mittens or socks! She was a member of The League of Catholic Women and a member of the St Michael's Choir. Red loved to read and travel, and was excited to share that passion in her later years with some of her children and grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit brought her up mountains, canoeing rivers, to Colorado, and over to France, Chili, and Italy.
Red was the sister of the late George Berard, Helen Denommee, Louis Berard, Lucille McCaron, Madeline Boulanger, Florence Reynolds, and Jeanette LaCourse.
She is survived by sisters Pauline Page and Rollande Nagle.
Relatives and friends are invited to Red's Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 4 until 7 PM on Thursday, Her Funeral Mass will be celbrated on Friday at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
