Dracut - Helen M. (Stanewicz) Patnaude, beloved wife of the late Francis G. Patnaude a resident of Dracut passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 with her family by her side. She was 102 years old.

 

Born in Lowell on September 14, 1920, she was the last surviving child of James and Anastansia (Kudruncy) Stanewicz.

 

Helen grew up in Chelmsford and was a 1938 graduate of Chelmsford High School. She then attended Burnett Business School. Helen worked at Ft. Devens during WWII.  Helen and Frank were married in Chelmsford on May 15, 1949. In 1955 Frank built their dream house on Superior Ave where they raised their family. At the time of Frank's passing in 2007 they were happily married for 58 years 

 

Prior to her retirement Helen worked as a secretary to the Principal of Dracut Center School and the Parker Ave School.

 

An avid Red Sox fan, Helen enjoyed listening to the games on the radio. She was an avid reader and liked to go on long walks. She enjoyed gardening with her husband and together they grew the best tomatoes. Helen and Frank were ahead their time regarding wellness. They looked forward to swimming daily at the Lowell YMCA.

 

Helen was featured on the front page of The Sun for her centenarian birthday holding a book titled "How to Live to be 100"

 

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Carole and Frederick Zink of Daytona Beach, FL, Neal F. And Ann Marie (Trudel) Patnaude of Merrimack, NH, David B. And Maria (D'Amore) Patnaude of North Reading; seven grandchildren, Adam Zink and his wife Michelle, Matthew Zink and his wife Kim, Olivia Weisman and her husband Dan, Andrew Patnaude, Laura Patnaude, Jessica Patnaude, Erika Patnaude; three great grandchildren, Millie Zink, Henry Weisman, Emmett Weisman; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was the sister of the late Ann Kleber, Lena Rinker, Jane Manley, Joseph Stanewicz, Frank Stanewicz and James Stanewicz. 

 

Relatives and Friends are invited to Helen's Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 4 until 8 P on Friday. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452 or www.alz.org
