Dracut - Helen (Neofotistos) Laffey, widow of Gerald J. Laffey who died in 1976, passed away Monday February 15, 2010 at the Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born in Dracut on August 15, 1921, a daughter of the late Pantelis and Vasiliki (Morphis) Neofotistos. She had been a lifelong resident of Dracut.
Prior to her retirement Helen was employed as an office manager at J.D. Yarns in Lawrence and was a former secretary at the Suffolk Knitting Co. of Lowell.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, and the Dracut Historical Society. Helen loved gardening, and was an avid Red Sox fan, but most of all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grand nieces.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Bette and Demitrios Zygouris of Dracut, Ellis Neofotistos of Dracut, Mary-Ann and Kenneth E. Hughes of Lowell, Sheila and Steve Graham of Dracut, Andrew J. Paraskos of Boston, Ellen Vercontaire of Dracut, Angela and John Busby of Dracut, Penny Neofotistos of Dracut; several grand nieces and grand nephews, including her Godchild Laura Hughes Clemmer of Austin, TX; and a caring friend Carol Champagne of Dracut. She was also the sister of the late George P. Neofotistos, John Neofotistos, Steve Neofotistos, Penny Berris, Anastasia Paraskos, Mary Neofotistos, Annie Neofotistos, and Connie Neofotistos.
