Harry F. Gorman

Harry F. Gorman, 90, died Tuesday, January 13th, 2009 at his home. He was the husband,
of Rita M. (Houle) Gorman who died December 24, 1999. He was born in Dracut on September
29, 1918, a son of Francis and Marietta (Egan) Gorman. He was a life-long resident of
Dracut. Mr. Gorman attended Dracut Public Schools through grade 8 and graduated at
age 16 from Lowell High School. He also did post-graduate work at the new Dracut High
School (the present Greenmont Avenue School). Mr. Gorman served with the U.S. Army in World War II as a sergeant from 1942-1945 with the invasion of North Africa and campaigns in Italy. He
worked with the ambulance crew in Company G of the 16th Medical Regiment in the
161st Second Medical Battalion. Mr. Gorman played semi-professional baseball as a
pitcher in the North Carolina League for the Boston Braves. He was also a star pitcher
for the Lowell Twi-light League and famed bowler throughout Lowell and Dracut. Mr.
Gorman worked in concessions at the Navy Yard Mills during his youth and spent 30
years in the National Guard working at Fort Devens until his retirement. Mr. Gorman
was a Lowell Sun paper carrier in the late 20's and early 30's delivering throughout
the Navy Yard area of Dracut. He was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Assumption
Church and Saint Marguerite D'Youville Church of Dracut.

Mr. Gorman is survived by four children, Dr. Linda M. Trouville, Curriculum Coordinator for the Dracut Public Schools, Trustee for the Moses Greeley Parker Library, and Director of choir at Saint Francis Church; Harry L. Gorman and his wife Mary Kay, owners of Gorman Accounting and Tax Service and Owen and Ollie's Restaurant in Dracut; Marietta (May) M. Paquette, former member of the Dracut School Committee, and her husband Normand; and Frank J. Gorman, owner of Gorman Mgt. Trust, Beaver Brook Village, and former Dracut Selectman, and his Fiancee Mary Casey; 15 grandchildren, Mary Beth (Trouville) and husband Dan Thompson, Frank J. Trouville III and wife Maria, Holly A. Trouville, Aimee (Trouville) Lakmany and husband Aravanh, Jennifer Knier and husband Kevin, Kristine Gorman and partner Justine Keenan, Brittany Gorman, Owen Gorman, Frank J. Gorman Jr. and wife Christy, Keith Gorman and friend Lola Doda, Bryan Gorman and wife Jill, and Erika Gorman, 1st Lt. Jeffrey Paquette of the USAF, David Paquette and Mark Paquette; 13 great-grandchildren, Daniel and Katherine Thompson, Kelsye, Kirstin, and Tyrell Trouville, Zachary and Sage Lakmany, Olivia and Christopher Knier, Naomi Cote, and Anna, Alexis, and Jakolby Gorman; a niece, Gayle (Moore) Rawnsley, several cousins, and Sandra Ray, Mr. Gorman's personal assistant and friend.

He was also the brother of the late George and Frederick Gorman, and Lillian Moore, and the grandfather of Joseph Trouville, all of Dracut.
