DRACUT - Grace E. (McCafferty) Sweeney, 84, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston in the comfort of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold J. Sweeney for over 35 years. Grace was born in Lowell on December 12, 1932. She was a daughter of the late Matthew P. and Agnes W. (Sullivan) McCafferty.Grace was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1950. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother and she truly loved to be at home with her family. She had an extensive group of relatives and friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Grace brought a positive energy and laughter whenever she attended gatherings with family and friends.After her children had grown, Grace worked in the cafeteria at the Greater Lowell Technical High School, where she met her loving, long-term partner Robert Benincasa. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church. Her spirit will live on through her two children, Michael H. Sweeney and his wife Mary (Hightower) of Lowell and Mary Beth Sweeney and her significant other, Laurence Conway of Lexington; her brother, Matthew P. McCafferty, Jr. and his wife Mar- guerite (McCue) of Chelmsford; two grandchildren, Michael J. and Holly J. Sweeney, both of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews. Gracie's memory will also remain in the heart of her dedicated partner, Rob Benincasa of Manchester, MA. She was the mother of the late William P. Sweeney and sister of the late Virginia Pomerleau, Frances Pellegrino, Marguerite Montgomery and Mary Shultz.
