Gloria M. (Maille) Morrissette, age 94, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Friday, November 18, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital. She was was the beloved wife of the late Roland A. Morrissette whom she was married to for 66 years prior to his death in 2012.
She was born in Lowell on December 15, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Hector and Corinne (Lavoie) Maille. She received her eduction in Lowell schools.
Gloria spent her life doing what she loved most, tending to the needs of her home and family.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell and former longtime communicant of the former St. Louis de France in Lowell.
Gloria was a longtime member of the Greater Lowell YMCA.
She was an avid bingo player and bowler at Brunswick in Lowell and she enjoyed going to the casinos, dancing, and taking long walks. Her greatest joy however, was spending time in the company of her loving family.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, Roland M. “Butch” Morrissette and his wife Diane of Pelham, NH and Roy Morrissette and his wife Donna of Manchester, NH; five daughters, Linda White and her husband Richard of Lowell, Doris Morrissette of Hampton, NH, Donna Dery and her husband Maurice of Townsend, Patricia Bannon and her husband Eugene of Pensacola, FL and Robin Speronis of Cape Coral, FL; a son-in-law, Paul Monbleau; fifteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Virginia Maille of East Bridgewater; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Diane Monbleau, the mother-in-law of the late Zenny Speronis and the sister of the late Raymond Maille, Alphee Maille, Robert Maille, Dewey Maille, Roger Maille, Leon Maille, Arthur Maille and Maurice Maille.
Gloria’s family would like to thank the staff of the West Wing of D’Youville Senior Care and Lowell General Hospital for the compassion and care they gave to her during her stay with them.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gloria’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 at St. Michael Church in Lowell. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria’s memory to the American Diabetes Association of New England, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, Virginia 22116.
