Gloria T. (O'Malley) Barros, 80, a Nashua, NH resident and a former longtime resident of the Centralville section of the city of Lowell, died peacefully Monday August 15, 2011 at her Nashua residence with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Barros, Sr.
Born in Lowell on August 24, 1930, She was a daughter of the late George A. and Marion L. (Cashman) O'Malley.
For many years, Gloria worked as a registered nurse for the former St. John's Hospital of Lowell and then at the Tewksbury State Hospital until her retirement. She was an excellent nurse who was well respected by her peers.
Gloria spent many years traveling with her husband and friends to his various duck pin bowling tournaments. As a couple, they were active in the Friends of Lowell High School.
She was the devoted mother of six children who brought so much to her life. Her role as a grandmother was one that she found great joy in. She also enjoyed Bingo, trips to Foxwoods and was an avid cross word enthusiast.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph F. Barros, Jr. and his wife, Maryjane of Dracut, Michael A. Barros and his wife, Jeannette of Lowell, Daniel G. Barros and his wife, Susan of Tyngsboro; three daughters, Marianne Lemieux and her husband, Mark of Hudson, NH, Lisa A. Barros of Nashua, NH, Linda A. Kulis and her husband, Edward of Hudson, NH; a sister, Pauline Koczera and her husband, William of Dracut; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Wakefield, David and Katelyn Barros, Lindsay and Allyson Lemieux, Laura and Elizabeth Lemieux, Matthew and Kelsey Kulis, Daniel, Maggie and Natalie Barros; and a great grandson, Ryan Cole. She was the grandmother of the late Jack Barros and sister of the late George, William, John and Harold O'Malley.
