Gladys L. St. Jean, 86, a lifelong Lowell resident, died February 12, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Alfred N. St Jean who predeceased her in 1988.
Born in Lowell on January 15, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Alfred A. and the late Alice A. (White) Ainsley, and was educated in the local schools.
Mrs. St. Jean grew up and resided in the Pawtucketville and Centralville sections of the city, and was a communicant of both St. Rita's Church and St. Michael Church. She was a member of The League of Catholic Woman and was active in many charitable organizations in the City of Lowell. She worked in the Lowell manufacturing industry and for Hour Glass Cleaners.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Murphy and her son-in-law Robert J. Murphy of Lowell. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Kristen A. Murphy-Cormier and her husband, Roland Cormier of Lowell and a grandson, Michael P. Murphy and his wife, Beth Murphy of East Hartland , CT and a great grandson, James M. Murphy, also of East Hartland, CT. Gladys is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Redding and Mary Langill, both of Lowell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Alice P. Briere, the late Arthur J. Ainsley, and the late Robert F. Ainsley.
