Obituary

DRACUT- Gerald D "Pie" Parent, 82, a World War II veteran, died Friday, April 29, at Saints Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Claire (Lavallee) Parent with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on April 17.
Born in Lowell on December 3, 1922, he was a son of the late George and Aurore (Giroux) Parent. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and attended Lowell Technological Institute.
Mr Parent served in the Army Air Force as a Tech Sergeant during the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon.
Prior to his retirement he was a Quality Control Engineer with Raytheon in Andover for 25 years. A resident of Dracut for over 46 years, he was a communicant of Ste Therese Church and a member of the Men's Club of that parish. He was a member of the Dracut Senior Citizens' Club, the Knights of Columbus, Dracut Council 4225, and the Centralville Senior Citizens' Club. In earlier years he was a call fireman for the Town of Dracut. An avid golfer, he was a former member of Longmeadow Country Club prior to his illness. He was a former member of the Pawtucketville Social Club with which he played softball for many years. He also worked for CTI as a Senior Companion. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Claire, he is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald Parent of Dracut, Kenneth and Patricia (Ganley) Parent of Tyngsboro, Michael and Margaret (Gibson) of Dracut; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Christopher Lyons of Dracut; a sister, Constance Tropeano of Dracut; six grandchildren, Jennifer Parent, Michelle Parent, Kelly Lyons, Kara Lyons, David Parent and Mikaela Parent; an aunt, Rena Roberge of Lowell and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late George A Parent and brother-in-law of the late Nick Tropeano.
