LOWELL - Gerald G. McDermott, 80, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of the late Irene (Yeager) McDermott.
Born in Lowell on August 25, 1928, he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Grady) McDermott.
Mr. McDermott was employed by the City of Lowell from 1980 until his retirement in 2004, working as a janitor for the Police Department.
He is survived by a sister, Barbara Ahearn of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Eileen McDermott of Portsmouth, NH; several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late James Mcdermott, John McDermott and Marilyn Keenan.
