Gerald H. Gerry Cahill

Gerald H. Cahill, Sr., 79, a longtime Lowell resident, died Thursday December 31, 2009 at a local nursing facility. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Ann (Braczyk) Cahill.
Born in Lowell on January 13, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Marsella (McInnis) Cahill.
During the Korean Conflict, Gerry served in the United States Air Force and Coast Guard.
Gerry belonged to several organizations. He was a proud member of the Lodge of Elks and an honorary member of the Polish American Veterans Club and enjoyed spending time at both clubs. He was a fifty year member of the Laborers Union Local 429. For many years he was a communicant of St. Casmir Church in Lowell. Gerry enjoyed working in and around his home and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lori Cahill of Dracut, Gerry and Anne Cahill of Groton; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Desrosiers of Falmouth, ME; three grandchildren, Elle and Dexter Desrosiers and Hayley Cahill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Cahill and his wife, Ann Marie of Lowell, Hugh Cahill and his wife, Wilma of Florida; and a sister, Betty Murphy of Lowell.
