Gerald C. "Jerry" Barnes

February 6, 1997 — June 19, 2018

Lowell – Gerald C. "Jerry" Barnes, II, age 21, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in Chelmsford from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born on February 6, 1997, and was the son of Gerald C. "Jerry" Barnes and Donna J. (Oliver) Barnes. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 2015. Jerry just completed his junior year at UMass Amherst. He was working towards his bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Conservation and his dream was to someday become a Conservation Officer.
Jerry's passion was motorcycles, especially his treasured Honda CBR 600RR. His passion went beyond riding, it included working on them, talking about them and allowed him to forge many close friendships, especially with North Shore Sportbike Riders (NSSR).
He also loved the outdoors. He loved fishing, especially at the family's camps in Maine, and playing lacrosse which he played throughout high school. Jerry also liked to cook, especially his signature dish, chicken broccoli alfredo, and had an obsession for hamburgers.
He was a hard worker, which was evident with his school work and at his summer job which he loved with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation at Walden Pond in Concord.
Jerry had a strong inner faith, a strong love for his family and country. Jerry was known by his family and friends as always being there to help when someone needed it. Especially when it came to his two best friends, his brother Jake who he loved to play Fortnite with and his sister Jill who he loved to goof around with. Jerry was also a very responsible person, full of common sense and always gave great advice when asked. He loved to talk, tell stories and had a great sense of humor.
Jerry touched many hearts in his short life and will be sadly and truly missed by his many friends, coworkers at Walden Pond and most of all, his family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Jillian Barnes, his brother, Jacob Barnes of Lowell; his life long love Siobhan LaFreniere of Chelmsford; his paternal grandmother, Anne S. Barnes of Lowell; his aunts and uncles, Kenny Barnes and his wife Kathy of Wilton, NH, Judy Barnes-Cassidy and her husband Bill of Dracut, Brenda Murphy and her husband, Jim of Westford, Pamela Cortez and her husband Frank of Nashua, NH, Joseph Oliver, Jr. and his wife Denise of Dracut, Robert Oliver and his wife Maria of Plaistow, NH, and Stephen Oliver of NH; many cousins, including Nicholas, Kayla, Chelsea, Brianna, Daniel Burke, Jimmy, Jess, Danny, Amanda, Sam, Erin, Ryan, and Kimberly; and many close friends, including John Harvey, Chris Patano, Mike Pfau, Liam Sullivan and John Walsh.
He was also the grandson of the late Charles L. "Charlie" Barnes, and the late Joseph R. Oliver, Sr, and wife Dorothy.
