George W. Spinney Jr., a man of exceptional character and boundless generosity, passed away on October 14, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 75 years old and a resident of Valley Cottage, NY, formerly of Lowell, MA. George was born on July 18, 1948, to his parents George W. Spinney Sr. and Doris (Grady) Spinney.

George's life was marked by a long and successful career with the United States Postal Service, where he dedicated 38 years of service, ascending from a humble letter carrier in Lowell, MA, to the esteemed position of Regional Marketing Manager in NYC. He retired in 2004 but continued to work as an on-site manager for Fastenal at Pfizer in Pearl River, NY for nearly 15 years post-retirement. His unwavering work ethic and dedication were truly commendable.

On October 7th, 2023, only one week before his passing, George and his wife, Diane, celebrated 51 years of a loving and enduring marriage. Their bond was an example of a deeply committed partnership that withstood the test of time.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Diane, his son Joseph (Elizabeth) of Matthews, NC, and his daughter, Laura Spinney, of Piermont, NY. His love extended to his granddaughters, Olivia, Grace, Lucy Ann, and Ada Rose. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Walter) Brown, and his brother, Robert (Maureen)Spinney, His niece, Kristy (John), and great-niece, Emily, along with great-nephews Zachary and Ryan, share in the fond memories of their beloved uncle. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Dennis (Doris)Morrissette, nephew Derek, and niece Sarah (Matt), as well as great-nephew Jack. George loved and cared for his immediate family and beyond!

He held a profound love for Boston sports, especially his cherished "Pats," and he'd excitedly reach out to family members across three different states to discuss the Sunday games. For nearly three decades, he embraced his role as Usher and Head Usher at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Sunday mornings. His fellow parishioners cherished the sight of his splendid 2006 Red Convertible Corvette gracing the church parking lot. George was also a dedicated coach to his son and daughter in the Valley Cottage Little League and wholeheartedly supported his beloved local businesses. His sense of humor, deep affection for "The Three Stooges," and vast knowledge of movie and TV trivia will forever stand as unmatched.

George was a man of remarkable kindness, always extending a helping hand to anyone in need. His selflessness was a defining trait; he preferred not to have it mentioned, but his legacy of generosity will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. It is likely that if you knew George, he had extended a hand of support to you at some point in time.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with George’s family on Saturday, November 18 at 10:15 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM followed by burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
