George C. Smith

Lowell - George C. Smith, Jr., husband of June (Malloy) Smith, a Lowell resident, died Monday October 31, 2011 at the Lowell General Hospital. He was 79.
Born in Cohasset on May 3, 1932 he was a son of the late George C. and Marion (Ford) Smith.
George was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a meat cutter at A & P Supermarket and Market Basket. George also worked as a bartender at the Fleur di Lis Club, the Centralville Social Club, and the former Walbrook Lounge.
George also enjoyed meeting his friends at Rockingham Park.
Surviving him besides his wife is his daughter and son in law, Pamela M. and James Feener of So. Lawrence; a son and daughter in law, Christopher G. and Cheryl Smith of Dracut; a daughter in law, Sarah I. Shea-Smith of Burlington, VT; nine grandchildren, Amanda Rogers and her husband John, Emily Smith, Matthew Smith, Alexander Smith, Samuel Smith, Meghan Maguire, Miranda Smith, Shane Maguire, Michael Smith; one great grandson John Rogers, Jr.; three brothers; Albert Keith of Falls Church, VA, Clifton B. Smith of Spring Hill, FL, Eugene Smith of Kendall, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Stephen C. Smith.
