George H. Rancourt

Dracut - George Henry Rancourt, Sr., 80, a Dracut resident, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Peregrine's Landing, Tewksbury, with his loving family in his presence. He was the beloved husband of Claire B. (Aube) Rancourt with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on February 22, he was a son of the late Theophile and Aurora (Dufresne) Rancourt.
Mr. Rancourt was a graduate of St. Louis Parochial School, Keith Academy High School and received an Associate Degree from Newbury College.
A Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, Mr. Rancourt served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star among many commendations. He retired in 1977 after 22 years of service. Following his service to the country, he worked for 10 years in the telecommunications department at UMASS - Lowell.
George was a patriotic man who loved the Boston Red Sox. He was a passionate fan and had an impressive collection of baseball sports memorabilia. He was also an avid coin collector.
He leaves four children and their spouses, Susan and James Adie of Leland, NC, George, Jr. and Dawn Rancourt of Dracut, Linda and Gary Dumont of Dracut, Michael Rancourt and Susan Almeida of Henniker, NH; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Tony, Matthew, Leah, George, III, Tyler, Kyle, Ryan, Kayleigh and Abbey; 6 great grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Armand and Doris Rancourt, Helen Breault, Rene and Rachel Rancourt and Robert Rancourt; In-laws, Doris Rancourt, Joe and Doris Sullivan, Pete and Theresa Aube; also several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Raymond Rancourt and Theresa Desrocher and brother-in-law of the late Gerard Desrocher, Shirley Rancourt and Maurice Breault.
It being his request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to George's Memorial Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday morning, January 12, at 10 AM in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Tyngsboro. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to: Peregine's Landing Activity Fund, 2580 Main St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
