George J. "Buddy" Martin

July 24, 1925 — August 26, 2012

NASHUA, NH – George J. "Buddy" Martin, Jr., 87, a resident of Nashua, NH, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was the former husband of the late Germaine L. (Belanger) Martin.
Born in Lowell on July 24, 1925, he was a son of the late George J. Martin, Sr. and Evangeline (Mercier) Martin. He was also the step son of the late Evangeline (Pepin) Martin.
Buddy attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
He enlisted with the United States Combat Navy in 1943 and served for the duration of World War II being honorably discharged in 1946. He was a life member of the Nashua D.A.V., Gate City # 7, the Nashua V.F.W. Post 483 and the Nashua Senior Citizens Club.
Following the war he entered the printing business and was employed as a printer for the Sullivan Brothers Printing Company for many years.
Having received his pilot's license many years ago, he was an avid aviator and enjoyed flying his Piper Club.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Dennis J. and Judith (DeRoche) Martin of Nashua, NH and Kevin A. and Brenda (Poitras) Martin of Lowell; a daughter, Dianna Martin Bastian of Pelham, NH; two sisters, Constance Crabill of Ft. Morgan, CO and Ruth Dubuc and her husband Arthur of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Carol (Rollo) Martin of Methuen; six grandchildren, Tina Huppe and her husband Raymond of Hooksett, NH, Todd Martin and Taylor Bastian, both of Pelham, NH, and Antonio, James and Lori Martin, all of Lowell; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the partner of the late Kathleen M. Fitzgerald, brother of the late Robert Martin and great grandfather of the late Alex Huppe.
