George A. Lacourse

November 22, 1930 — June 9, 2007

George A. Lacourse, 76, Lowell native, residing in No. Chelmsford died Saturday June 9, following an extended illness. He was the husband of Jeannette (Berard) (Payette) Lacourse with whom he was married for 15 years and the late Gertrude (Frechette) Lacourse with whom he was married for 46 years.
Born in Lowell on November 22, 1930, a son of the late Alfred and Flora (Marion) Lacourse. He was raised and educated in Lowell. George was one of 16 children.
When he was a child he was an Altar Server for the daily Mass at the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Church where he served for three years without missing a day for which he received special recognition. He was also a Boy Scout and attained the Eagle Scout Award.
Prior to his retirement he was employed for 20 years at DeMoulas and Market Basket Stores where he was a store manager for the Bridge Street Lowell store and Tewksbury store. George was a former member and past President of the Dracut Rotary Club.
He enjoyed boarding and grooming his five horses, but most of all he enjoyed riding with his family. He also took pleasure from yard work and outdoor activities.
Survivng him besides his wife are six children, Richard Lacourse of Deerfield, NH, Elaine Lacourse of Salisbury, Dennis Lacourse of Dracut, Michelle Healy of Derry, NH, Janet Lacourse of Newton, NH, Gail Rasnick of Groton, CT; three stepchildren, David Payette of Dracut, Louise Payette of Manchester, NH, Helen Maynard of Londonderry, NH; a brother Donald Lacourse of Franklin, five sisters, Cecile Lacourse of Dunstable, Alice Parent of Hudson, NH, Flora Tanguay of Boise, Idaho, Pauline Lacourse of Hampton, NH, Claudette Vincent of Dunstable; ten grandchildren, Ryan Hirbour, Erin Hirbour, Lindsey Rasnick, Alex Lacourse, Tyler Rasnick,Joshua Payette,Heather Payette, Krista Payette Benjamin Maynard, Andrew Maynard; and several nieces and nephews.
