George H. Keene, III

George H. Keene, III, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Ann (Szopa) Keene and George H. Keene, Jr.

A lifelong resident of Lowell, George was educated in the Lowell public schools and graduated from Lowell High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Lowell and later obtained his master’s degree in accounting from Rivier University.

George dedicated nearly four decades of his professional life to the MITRE Corporation, where he worked as an accountant before retiring after 39 years of service.

A kind and generous spirit, George had a deep love for animals, especially cats. He adored his Maine Coon cats and was a passionate cook and baker. He found joy in spoiling friends and family with thoughtful gifts, especially on special occasions.

He is survived by his brother, Stephen Keene of Dracut and Stephen’s significant other, Doris McGee; his nieces, Marcia and Victoria Keene; his great-nieces, Arie and Cali and his great-nephew, Joseph, Jr. (J.J.).

Relatives and friends are invited to George’s graveside service on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to the Lowell Humane Society, 951 Broadway Street, Lowell, MA 01854.
