George H. Hadfield

Dracut - George H. Hadfield, widower of Dorothy F. (Laird) Hadfield, with whom he was married for 54 years at the time of her death in 2003, died Sunday June 15, 2008 at his Dracut residence following a brief illness. He was 87.
He was born in Lawrence on February 15, 1921, the son of George H. and Mary (Campbell) Hadfield.
George attended Lawrence Schools. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corps where he attained the rank of Corporal.
George retired in 1986 as a forman for the former Grace Chemical Company in Cambridge and Nashua, NH. He enjoyed playing pool and was an avid golfer. He golfed throughout New England and California but, considered Green Meadow his home course.
Survivors include a daughter; Marybeth Hadfield Clancy and her husband Thomas of Santa Rosa, CA; two grandchildren, Shane P. Clancy and Kate A. Clancy, both of Santa Rosa, CA; brothers in law and sisters in law, Jack and Lorraine Laird of Dracut, Helen Laird, Esther and Dan Degan all of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother in law of the late Ann E. and Philip Greene, Patricia and Charles Gearin, and L. Robert Laird.
