George T. Garabedian

Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather

LOWELL - George T. Garabedian (Papa), 95, a resident of the Christian Hill neighborhood in the Centralville section, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence M. (Veillette) Garabedian, with whom he was married for 63 years prior to her passing in 2011.
Born in Lowell on February 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Paul B. and Florence (MacLaughlin) Garabedian.
George attended Lowell Schools and following high school enlisted with the United States Navy. He served during World War II from 1943 until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. He was a life member of the East End Club and the VFW, Walker Roger's Post, 662.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Lowell General Hospital.
George was a longtime communicant of St. Michael Church.
He enjoyed trips to Hampton Beach with his wife Florence and was happy watching New England Sports, especially the Patriots.
He leaves two daughters, Linda M. Kirwin of Dracut and Dolores A. Zacharias and her husband Edmund, III of Methuen; four grandchildren, Scott M. Kirwin and his wife Jennifer, Katie L. Moon and her husband Steven, Cindy (Zacharias) Griffin and Kevin E. Zacharias and his wife Coreen; seven great grandchildren, Piper, Liam, Anabelle, Madilyn, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Kirwin; also several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Charles Garabedian and his wife Sonia.
Garabedian - At the family's request, Funeral Services were held privately. A Celebration of his Life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, PO Box 1245, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9918.
