George F. Bourassa

George F. Bourassa, 84, a longtime Dracut resident, beloved husband of Pauline E. (Descoteau) Bourassa, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 17, 2009, died Monday May 11, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lowell on July 14, 1924, he was a son of the late Alfred and Florence (Currier) Bourassa.

Mr. Bourassa enlisted with the United States Navy on September 11, 1941 and served during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Navy with an Honorable Discharge on December 18, 1964. Throughout his many dedicated years in the Navy, his experiences led to his frequent and detailed depictions of his personal "war" stories which he would share with members of his family often.
George spent several years employed as a power plant electrician by the Boston Naval Shipyard.
He loved to watch the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
George spent a great number of Sundays having lunch with his wife in Rockport, MA.
In addition to being a retired Naval Serviceman he was also a past member of the Elks, the Centralville Social Club and the Retired Armed Forces Association.
During his final days at home, George was blessed to have been under the amazing care of his loving daughter, Kathy.
Besides his wife, survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen M. Spall and her husband Dennis of CA, Kathy A. Bourassa and Joyce E. Fontaine both of Dracut, Linda B. O'Sullivan and her husband Daniel J. of Lowell, Robin C. Gallant and her husband Scott E. of Methuen; seven grandchildren, Kristin Jacobson, Mathew Conley, Joy Roukes and her husband Jeff, Justin Fontaine, Lisa Dowling and her husband Mike, Adam Fontaine and Sarah Gallant; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late, Beulah Petullo, Pauline Campbell, Marjorie Goulet and Alfred "Sonny" Bourassa
