LOWELL - George R. Boisvert, 73, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly following a brief illness on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Claire R. (Laferriere) Boisvert, to whom he was married for 51 years.
He was born in Lowell on May 24, 1944, and was a son of the late Florence (Plourde) Boisvert.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he received several medals for his brave actions.
He retired from Freudenberg (formerly the Pellon Corp.) in Lowell, where he held several positions including: Foreman, Supervisor and Safety Officer. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at the Chelmsford Senior Center.
George was very active with the Boy Scouts and was awarded the Saint George Medal by the Archdiocese of Boston for his commitment to the spiritual development of the scouts.
He was a communicant of St. Rita Parish in Lowell and a former communicant of Ste. Jeanne D'Arc Church in Lowell.
George had a way of making everyone around him feel good. This was especially true around the holidays, when he would display his collection of Christmas village houses which grew larger year after year and was playfully referred to as "Georgetown".
His family was the most important thing in the world to him and his greatest joy came from time spent in their company.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kelly Boisvert of Templeton; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Andreason of Pepperell; four grandchildren, Jason Andreason and his wife Allison Hanna, Matthew Andreason, and James Boisvert and Meghan Boisvert; five brothers, Raymond Boisvert, Jacques Boisvert and his wife Anne of Lowell, Albert Boisvert of Tyngsboro, Roger Boisvert and Richard Boisvert of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Claire Smith with whom he had a very special bond.
ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends are invited to attend George's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita Parish in Lowell on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
