Galina S. Wood

DRACUT - Galina S. (Venturoff) Wood, 85, a Dracut resident, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 after a lengthy battle with emphysema. Galina was the daughter of the late Marianna (Levandorskaya) Venturoff and Valerian Venturoff, both from Odessa, Russia. She was born in Marseille, France and immigrated to the United States as a child, growing up in New York City. Galina was the sister of the late Ina Europa of New York, NY. She will be dearly missed by her four children and twelve grandchildren: Valerie Wood-Sullivan and her husband Robert of Hopewell, Junction, NY, Laurier "Chuck" Wood and his wife Marie of Westford, Greg Wood and his wife Risha of San Marcos, CA and Eric Wood and his wife Mary of Windham, NH. Mrs. Wood graduated from Columbia University, as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and was also a decorated member of the US Army WAC during World War II. She later went on to be a Regional Supervisor with the MA Dept. of Public Welfare. She loved all things outdoors in particular the ocean and birds and of course her family.
