Gabrielle A. Cassista

Gabrielle (Hamelin) Cassista, 86, peacefully joined her loving husband, Dr. Alphee J. Cassista and assumed her place in heaven on Ascension Thursday, May 25, 2006 at her Dracut residence. She was surrounded by her family.
Gabrielle was born in Lowell on July 14, 1919, a daughter of the late Frank and Marie-Louise (Ouellette) Hamelin.
She graduated from St. Joseph Academy of Nursing and her wonderful, ever cheerful bedside manner comforted many patients at St. Joseph Hospital and Tewksbury State Hospital. She also served as an industrial nurse at The Parachute Co. in Lowell during WWII.
Surviving Mrs. Cassista is a son Alphee J. Cassista Jr. and his wife Cindy, daughter Louise Berard and her husband Donald J. with whom she enjoyed the last seven years of her life in their loving home, daughter Denise Berard and her fianc�e Noah St. John, son Dr. Gerard Cassista and his wife Dr. Lorraine, daughter Jeannine Loiselle and her husband Richard, son Philippe Cassista and his wife Sue; twenty five precious grandchildren and twenty six great-grand children. She will be sadly missed by her sister in law Therese Hamelin of Southbridge, Johnny Berard, and Lucinda Holden-Cassista; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a sister of the late Raymond Hamelin, Alfred Hamelin, Isabelle Hamelin and Robert Hamelin.
