Frederick J. Woolfall, Sr., 86 , a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Lillian T. (LaBelle) Woolfall, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, their wedding celebrated at St. Rita Church on September 20, 1958.
Born in Dracut on January 24, 1928, he was a son of the late William and Florence (Desrosiers) Woolfall.
Mr. Woolfall was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1945. Following high school he enlisted with the United States Army and served during World War II.
Fred retired from the former New England Telephone Company as a toll test man following 35 years of service. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers and the IBEW, Local 2321.
He was also a life member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks, BPOE Lodge 87 and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He and his family enjoyed the summer months at their home at Salisbury Beach where he volunteered every Sunday at the Star of the Sea Church.
In addition to his wife he leaves two children, Karen Woolfall - McManimon of Lowell and David Woolfall and his wife Donna (Weir) of Haverhill; five grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Steven and Eric McManimon, all of Lowell and Matthew Woolfall of Haverhill; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Loretta (Flynn) LaBelle of Chelmsford, Brother Paul LaBelle, C.F.X. of Westwood, Robert and Ann (Doherty) LaBelle of Newton, NH, Evelyn (LaBelle) Carrigg of Irvine, CA, Michael Carrigg of Palm Springs, CA, Virginia (Hlusko) LaBelle and her late husband Edward LaBelle of Middleboro and Norman Paquin and his late wife Irene (LaBelle) Paquin of Dracut; also many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Frederick J. Woolfall, Jr. who died on September 20, 1977, and brother of the late William Woolfall and Mildred (Woolfall) Ouellette.
