Franklin J. Froton

LARGO, FL - Franklin J. Froton, age 86, a resident of Largo, FL and former resident of Lowell and Pelham, NH died Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Largo Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Maureen B. (McMahon) Froton, whom he has known since he was 3 years old and married to for 66 years.

He was born in Lowell on December 2, 1935, and was the son of the late Franklin M. And Anna L. (Burke) Froton. He received is education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Keith Academy, class of 1953.

Frank served his country in the United States Navy Reserves.

He was a proud member on the Lowell Fire Department for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1992 as Fire Chief.

Frank was also a member of the Lowell Retired Firefighters Association, the New England Association of Fire Chiefs, Inc., Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts, and the Retired State Municipal Employees.

He was a longtime parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church in Lowell.

In his free time, Frank enjoyed traveling, eating out, and spending time close to the water, especially his summers at Little Island Pond in Pelham, NH with his loving family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Mary Ann Mello and her husband George of Lowell, Franklin J. Froton, Jr. of Pinellas Park, FL, and Stephen Froton and his companion Carol Miller of Lowell; five grandchildren, Philip Mello and his wife Beth of Hudson, NH, Adam Mello of Lowell, Eric Froton of Chelmsford, Garrett Froton and his wife Meghan of Dover, NH, and Alaina Froton of Chelmsford; and two great grandchildren, Grace Mello and Keegan Mello, both of Hudson, NH.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Friday, March 18th from 8:30 until 10:00am followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Patrick Church in Pelham, NH. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to the Capuchin Franciscans, Province of St. Mary, C/O Mission & Development Office, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703-2226.
