Francisco Borges Da Rocha (1935 - 2016)

LOWELL - Francisco Borges Da Rocha, 80, of Lowell, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Northwood Nursing Home after a illness took a turn for the worse in late July. He was the widow of the late Rosa Mendes Areias who passed away in 1976.

He was born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal on December 6, 1935 and was the son of the late Francisco Da Rocha and Maria Borges Martins. In 1987 he relocated to the United States, settling in Lowell.

For over 29 years, Francisco made his home in back central street where he was sure to be spotted taking his daily walk which he truly enjoyed from his home as far as downtown Lowell and returning back home making his stops at teh local markets to get his groceries.

He is survived by his six children, Jose DaRocha, and his wife Ermelinda, of Dracut, Elizabete Meneses, and her husband Salvador, Emanuel DaRocha, and his wife Marcia, all of Lowell, Luis Rocha of Chelmsford, Francisco Rocha, and his wife Lucia, Rosa Costa, and her husband Manuel all of Terceira, Azores.

Ten grandchildren, Jessica DaRocha and fiance Ben, Tanya DaRocha of Dracut, Fabio Meneses, Jason Meneses and girlfriendSidney, Christian and Lisandra DaRocha, Patricia DaRocha all of Lowell, Sandra Valadao and husband paulo, Diogo Costa, Marcio Rocha and wife Carla of Terceira, Azores and two great-grandchildren, tomas Valadao and Marta Rocha of Terceira, Azores. His two sisters, Idulina Dias and husband Hermino, from Terceira, Azores, Vibilina Milhomens of Saskatoon, Canada. His very close cousin Manuel Rocha and wife Marciolinda of Lowell. Nieces and nephews in Saskatoon, Canada and Terceira, Azores.
