LOWELL - Francis J. "Frank" Minton, 82, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Palm Center in Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of Rita F. (Gauthier) Minton, to whom he was married for 61 years.
He was born in Lowell on June 10, 1935, and was the son of the late Francis and Evelyn (Monett) Minton. He attended St. Michael Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Frank served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years by the United States Postal Service.
Frank was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell. He was a lifetime member of the East End Club and the Centralville Social Club.
He enjoyed playing the poker machines and shooting pool.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Francis H. and Sandra J. Minton of Lowell and Dennis P. and Edie A. Minton of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lohmer and her husband Michael of Lowell, Wendy-Beth Minton and companion Zach Kissell of Atkinson, NH, Kimberly Minton and her fiancé Kenneth Daneault of Lowell, Dennis J. Minton of Cincinnati, OH, and Jamie Minton and her companion Chris Daly of Watertown, CT; and a great grandson, Nathaniel Lohmer of Lowell.
He was also the brother of the late Vivian Bakunas and the uncle of the late Patricia Bakunas.
